2020 should be about ‘You & me’, not a virus ?

As i write this with almost 6 months of 2020 gone, no one, even the almighty, would have predicted of the consequences that started as viral cases in Asia.

The world would never be the same again.

This is what we have been reading in the news:-

  • People have lost their jobs
  • People have lost their loved ones
  • People have lost their trust in governments to protect them (well almost all)
  • People have lost their mental well-being during the quarantine (a lot of them)
  • People can’t fly anymore where and when they want to.
  • People have lost their freedom to be free
  • Peoples stress levels have increased as they sit at home and argue with their loved ones over petty little things.

I don’t want to sound all negative, but this is the reality, at least for those who see it that way. I had suffered economically too, but that didn’t deter or deviate my path to getting more financially independent by learning more.

Let me tell you that this is the time for all of us to RE-FRAME what is happening to us and press the RESET button.

We never had the time to just sit and be given the permission to just be. We always had pressures from different sides of our life. Be it from our workplace, be it from our better half, our kids demands, our friends parties and join in for all the societal demands which we never wanted to, BUT WE HAD TO.

I met with a friend of mine who was the most driven lady i had met late last year (2019) and got to see her finally in July 2020 (Mid) when things had opened up with restrictions.

Her outlook on life has totally changed, and this is what inspired me to write this article. How she went from someone doing so many things at a time to someone who had the opportunity to go deep within, and exploring the SELF. A pause button.

From superficial level to something DEEPER.

While exploring the SELF, a lot of dirt and s**t did come out and with it, lots of tears. She thought she was going crazy, but i made her realize that she is going through a stage of awakening and SELF-REALIZATION. A reset button.

I have personally gained a lot during this time as i was locked up (4 months) in a Yoga sanctuary of sorts. I couldn't go in or out but was on a path of self-discovery. Yoga teachings in yogic scriptures has been around for 1000’s of years to prepare us for the worst. Now when i look back the timing of my presence in this place, and this pandemic is surreal.

My self realizations and this may resonate for most of you as well :-

  • Ask yourself the question “Who am i without any titles, degrees you have earned, religion, family, friends, no material possessions ” (Peel of those layers of conditioning of who we think we are, and get to really understand YOU)
  • Who are these thoughts, feelings and emotions ?
  • Will I be comfortable sitting in a room, with myself for days/weeks together without the need to go anywhere (hear stories about people wanting to travel and become disappointed that they couldn’t. Continuous cycle of anxiety and stress).

These answers can be answered by self, with daily practice of meditation.

Fortunately, there are people on this planet including myself who can assist and help you on realizing your path.

What you seek is already there within you. “We need a guru, to realize the guru within”

Simply realize the truth that we need to simply be open to the possibilities.

Don’t forget to clap for this story so it motivates me to write more. Thank you.
